It is hoped that this will be achieved by laying the groundwork for a food policy that safeguards the production and access to food, a policy founded on the principles of equality, conservation and environmental sustainability.
Additionally, the plan will seek to bring metropolitan area food producers and consumers closer together in order to promote social and environmental responsibility as well as local food production and consumption. There is also a commitment to collecting environmental, social and economic data on the metropolitan area's food system in order to inform administrative policy on this issue and to promote a more inclusive and sustainable sector.
